Archaeology in the digital age

A major challenge facing Archaeology is how best to translate the immense volumes of new information on the material culture of all periods of Ireland’s past which has been gathered as part of the boom in construction and infrastructural development over the last two to three decades into accessible knowledge.  Students undertaking this course will be equipped to respond to these challenges over the coming years. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of Digital Media in archaeology from the latest geophysical techniques of non-invasive data acquisition to the presentation and archiving of this data and the associated knowledge it generates, particularly through the medium of the Web.
